To be free is wonderful.

But there is a cost.

I tried to spend some time yesterday reflecting on that. It's hard though.

To fully grasp the weight of their sacrifices. I'm trying.

This week was a bit busy so it's a short one this week.

Enjoy!

1. What's new in (the) marketing (zoo)?

Do we need "exponentially more content for marketing campaigns?"

Maybe for Ford, L’Oréal, or Nike. But not for you and me.

The "problem" we face is getting attention.

It's about creating something unique/human enough to get someone to stop and care. And that won't come from increasing content creation.

Why this matters: AI will drastically alter content moving forward.

And content is the underlying component of most content (ads, website).

Which means I believe ALL OF MARKETING will be different.

We will need to:

  • Pull more personal experiences into our content

  • Use unique research on your audience and industry

  • Collaborate with other humans to create compelling content

What do I do now: Focus on improving HOW you work with the robot.

The tools will continue to improve and increase the quality of content. Mastering the tools is a fruitless decision.

Instead, master working with AI to create better shit.

2. Episode on SEO + Content w/ Jacob Statler

SEO is dead.

No…it’s just evolving.

Or, maybe it never changed?

Today, I speak with Jacob Statler, who gives a clear outlook on the future of SEO/content.

Spoiler: FOCUS ON WRITING FOR HUMANS.

3. Life Idea

"You have become impossible to work with, and have completely forgotten your obligations to WWF fans."

Do you remember the Ultimate Warrior? I don't.

I did watch a Dark Side of the Ring episode on his life. And it was tragic. Not only because he died of a heart attack at 54.

But because he let the "fame" get to his head.

Outside of the ring, he was becoming "Warrior." His identity was wrapped into this character, resulting in impaired decisions.

He cheated on his wife.
Was a complete dick to work with.
Demanded the same pay as Hulk Hogan.

"How can one achieve their pinnacle without being changed by it?"

That is a question I may forever be trying to answer.

How can I build a foundation that allows me to be humble, kind, and genuine even as I reach my peak?

If you have any advice, please share 🙏
